Today is a day for comedy, romance, and drama! I was conflicted about posting the Beauty and the Beast teaser trailer here, being it would fall right in line with the some of the other picks, but I thought I would wait to include it in a more Fantasy-centric theme. Be aware that it's out there, though, if you haven't come across it yet!

Me Before You (6/3/2016):

Emilia Clarke (Terminator Genisys, Game of Thrones) and Sam Claflin(The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Snow White and the Huntsman) look like a cute couple, and I recall the first time seeing the trailer that the movie did, indeed, look cute. Maybe it was because I saw an odd extended trailer where almost full scenes were shown, or just watching this original trailer again, something seemed off. I like both actors in the prominent roles they're known for, and you think it wouldn't be hard to make two beautiful people appear to fall in love, but something makes it feel forced.

There's nothing new about the plot, a fairly modest person meets a rich individual, and through some trials and tribulation, they fall in love. This rich suitor happens to be a brooding man who has met with tragedy and is bound to a wheel chair. In the extended trailer they even highlight the fact that had he not experienced this life-changing event, he wouldn't have given her any notice. Mind you, serious events like this can and do change people, but I dunno. Like I said, something started to feel forced between the actors. Maybe it's just the copious amount of facial expressions that accompany their performances.

Hopefully the movie does well and the chemistry is more genuine than what I observe. It would be great to see Emilia Clarke continue to break out into more movies. I also like that there appears to be another Game of Thrones alumni in the mix, Charles Dance (The Imitation Game, Alien 3).

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (6/3/2016):

I like Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Hot Rod), but I haven't followed along with many of his films and/or TV series. I do, however, watch and love most of The Lonely Island's music videos. This is the kind of dry, offbeat humor I'm generally in sync with, unlike the last movie featured today. It doesn't take itself seriously and the amount of nonsensical moments will be plentiful. The character Samberg plays seems hilarious, being oblivious to everything around himself and caring about nothing but his own ego and career, but in a bumbling, clueless fashion that I guess I compare to Ben Stiller's Zoolander.

This film is filled with tons of performers you're likely familiar with, many of them Saturday Night Live alumni, such as Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Jimmy Fallon, and Will Forte. Then there's Sarah Silverman, Will Arnett, Pink, Martin Sheen, Joan Cusack, and many more acting and musical talents.

There is a red-band and multiple other trailers that have been released, but they do give away a lot more of the comedic bits, some I wish I hadn't seen until watching the movie. I like how this one lays out his character's personality and those others who play an integral role in his life. Even a bagpipe player... However, I feel that if The Lonely Island's humor isn't your cup of tea, neither will this movie's.

No Stranger Than Love (6/17/2016):

This is the oddest of tonight's selections. I can't help but feel that the trailer literally screams straight to DVD/Blu-Ray to me. I hadn't even realized Orion was still around. When I see that old school logo I can't help but think of Robocop. The main culprit is probably the voice-over. It sounds like one used in a made for TV family trailers or something. Maybe it's just me.

The only actor I'm vaguely familiar with is Colin Hanks (Untraceable, Roswell), though I should really know Alison Brie, but I've yet to watch Community. Same goes for Justin Chatwin and the series he's been in, Shameless and Weeds. I guess I'm behind.

Unfortunately, from the trailer, I couldn't get any chemistry or vibes among the actors. The main draw for me would be to find out what the hell is going on (obviously the whole... hole... plot), and hope that the light-hearted, quirky writing and characters can hold my interest until reaching that point. Either way, the movie looks decent, though I wouldn't blame people being scared away with how the trailer is structured.

Bad Moms (7/29/2016):

This movie is one that I feel I should like, I love a lot of the actors involved (Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn and Christina Applegate), but am just not feeling it. I think there was only one moment that I actually laughed and found really funny, out of a trailer likely showing off many of it's funnier moments. That worries me.

Maybe I'm becoming a bit too critical about comedies? I'm having a rough time tonight. It just seems many are forced or played out or are mediocre in the laughs delivered. There's a red-band version released, but I don't feel it offered enough to draw my interest like they sometimes do.

I do feel the chemistry between the cast looks to be really good, however. I'd imagine everyone had a blast making this movie. Maybe a second trailer being released will change my mind on the movie.

Café Society - International Trailer (8/12/2016):

I don't really take much away from this trailer. Nothing really draws me in or appeals to me. It may be because I haven't ever seen (to my knowledge) a Woody Allen movie. Once I saw he wrote and directed it, I was like "Ah, that makes sense", just based on knowing his movies seem to be fairly offbeat. I imagine in Hollywood it's an honor to get a role in one of his movies, and while I like odd and offbeat, I'm just not sure I'd get into Café Society.

There are scenes I feel I'm meant to find funny, much like Bad Moms, but just don't. Some of the talent I'm familiar with, Kristen Stewart (Snow White and the Huntsman, Twilight) and Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Zombieland), who both appear to be in an abundance of movies lately, seem decent, but I'm not really sure if there is solid chemistry present. The two were paired in American Ultra, but I've yet to see it. Someone thought the two worked really well together? To be honest, Steve Carell (Foxcatcher, The Office) is the main draw for me. It's not enough to get me into theaters, though, unfortunately. I'm curious of how reviews are for this movie.
