A to Z CHALLENGE 2016 THEME REVEAL

A to Z CHALLENGE 2016 THEME REVEAL

It's been ages since I've added any content to Dreams in the Shade of Ink. I'm hoping that by participating in the 2016 A to Z Challenge, I'll be able to churn out some more fiction!

Not every A to Z participant needs a theme, but I'm definitely going that route. Come dream away the month of April with me!

AFTER ARMAGEDDON - 3 -

AFTER ARMAGEDDON - 3 -

In those first moments, when you came to learn the world was erupting in chaos, you couldn’t help but be stunned motionless. Nothing made sense, nothing seemed real. It was like watching a movie. Explosions, the Earth trembled from unseen forces. God was angry. You couldn’t help but watch it play out.

And then, people were running. Running and screaming.

FIREFLIES

FIREFLIES

This was a piece I entered into the String-of-10 FIVE Flash Fiction contest, which was hosted by Flash Fiction Chronicles back in 2013. The entries were restricted to 250 words or less and required the use of at least four of ten pre-chosen words within. Using the specific words was easy, but forcibly editing down to that word count was painstakingly brutal!

Also, I read that Death was a major theme when it came to Flash Fiction. Something about the ease of being able to flesh out the topic in such a short blurb. I decided to challenge myself and focus on a different topic. Needless to say, I didn't place in the contest, but I was honestly pleased with what I had eventually submitted. Hopefully you enjoy:

THE BLACK OMEN: BETRAYALS - PROLOGUE -

THE BLACK OMEN: BETRAYALS - PROLOGUE -

The Black Omen: Betrayals was originally meant to be an ongoing Fanfiction series loosely based on the Linkshell (Guild) I lead in the MMO Final Fantasy XI Online (FFXI). Playing the game really inspired my to write, but my writer's block played a major role in hindering that desire. I wrote this after writing the first part of Chapter One. The year is fuzzy, but I believe this was written in 2003/2004. I've always wanted to revisit this project, and possibly rewrite this prologue. It's fairly short and I feel there are some aspects I would tweak.

Perhaps I will even get up that first part of Chapter One, which I really liked. For now, if you so fancy, you can check out this short Prologue for the series!
