Volunteering

Some quick blurbs tonight. I just got home from seeing Urinetown with a friend and it was a great play [musical]. Hopefully we can try to figure out how to write up some sort of review. I think it would be fun to do. Until then I'm just going to share a few photos.

The Good

This was taken after the highway roadside clean up volunteering session a few weeks ago. Like I mentioned earlier, it was a great time. I'm in the very back left of the photo. You can’t really see it, but I’m holding up a hand-crafted poker I designed from “raw” materials found on the side of the road. Everyone was quite impressed with it. There was a stability issue causing it to malfunction at its job, but my friend is planning to weld it for me so I can use it the next time we are out cleaning the mean streets of debris!

The Bad

My friend Cadence over at The Cadence Journey let me use this picture tonight, and I thank her for that. This is a picture of inside a dumpster just outside a Half Price Books. It saddens me to see so many creations just tossed. I hope they were offered for free to customers, or anyone really, before they hit that stage of “death”. I suppose they have to go somewhere, though, to make room for the next big thing.

Once I can get a picture of my creation I shall share it. Do you think the dumpster books were offered to people before they were thrown out? Does it kind of kill a small piece of your soul, regardless? Sad Panda.
